About This Spot

Stepping into Moshi Moshi in Waldwick feels like finding a small slice of Japan tucked discreetly just around the corner from the bustle of daily life. The entrance itself is a gentle invitation, a quiet hint that inside awaits a cozy, unassuming space where the pace slows and attention turns toward simple, heartfelt dining. The atmosphere carries a humble warmth — not flashy or overly styled, but quietly thoughtful, with the familiar comfort of a neighborhood sushi spot that invites both regulars and newcomers to linger.

The mood here is relaxed yet attentive. Conversations hum softly beside the understated clink of chopsticks and the subtle sizzle from the kitchen. Service feels personal without being intrusive — the kind of place where staff share a knowing nod as they present your meal, open to little custom touches that make a dish feel just right. It’s the kind of local gem where the team seems genuinely engaged in balancing tradition with everyday ease.

At Moshi Moshi, the menu gently unfolds as a celebration of fresh flavors and thoughtful combinations rather than an endless parade of options. Whether you’re drawn to a vibrant seaweed salad or the comforting simplicity of miso soup paired with salad, each bite carries care and a sense of discovery. Rolls arrive with a subtle kick — like the spicy salmon with just enough heat to stir the palate — while other choices cater to a range of tastes, from familiar favorites to more adventurous, layered bites. Portions invite sharing, encouraging moments to trade tastes and stories across the table.

Though small, the space holds a genuine intimacy, reminiscent of the modest sushi bars encountered in quiet Japanese neighborhoods. There’s a gentle rhythm here that encourages slowing down, savoring not just the food but the human moments woven through the experience — a shared meal, a quiet exchange, a friendly welcome. This is a place where local passion peeks through every dish and every smile, creating a quietly satisfying escape amid the everyday.

After being a costumer of this place for years, have noticed a degradation of the quality of the food and the service provided under the new ownership. Prices a much higher and willingness to costumize your order is gone. Won't come back.

I was very impressed by the high quality of their fish and flavor of their sauces. Staff was attentive and courteous! I will definitely be back. :)

This place is cute, and feels a lot like the little restaurants we ate at in Japan. We also over-ordered, which isn't easy to do with sushi. Their staff is kind and will work with you (they upgraded a salad in our combo), and the food came quickly and was delicious. Do note, the entrance is around the corner. We almost left thinking Google led us to the wrong address.

Lived in the area for a couple years and this was my first time visiting this place. Absolutely loved it. Service was excellent but the show stopper is the food. I ordered Spicy Salmon Rolls and they were, for the first time, actually spicy. Everything tasted fresh and portion sizes were above average. Price was average for sushi in the area but I’m not complaining. Will be back for sure

I have been there a few times. Today we ordered takeout. We had a regular sashimi platter, an avocado and salmon salad and an avocado and tuna salad. Everything was so delicious. The sashimi was so fresh. We can’t wait to order again! I highly recommend.
